Nella primavera del 1938, tra le montagne del Cile settentrionale, l'oggetto volante non identificato chiamato la Sfera cilena precipita sulla terra. Indagando su questo episodio, una troupe cinematografica giunge ad una scoperta sensazionale: sembra che prima della guerra, durante gli anni Trenta in Unione Sovietica, esistesse un programma spaziale segreto. Gli scienziati sovietici e le forze militari erano riusciti a mandare in volo il primo veicolo spaziale 23 anni prima del lancio di Jury Gagarin.
