Jack Stark, un veterano della prima guerra mondiale sofferente di amnesia, e' ingiustamente accusato di omicidio e rinchiuso in un manicomio in cui si sta sperimentando un nuovo trattamento sulla mente. Una camicia di forza e potenti psicofarmaci agiscono su Jack che, rinchiuso in una sorta di loculo, e' prigioniero di allucinazioni che lo proiettano in una dimensione spazio - temporale alterata. Durante queste peregrinazioni il suo passato riemerge a tratti, mentre il futuro incalza prepotentemente mostrandogli addirittura la sua morte...
